Hello all. I was introduced to this site by Chris R as I need some ID assistance. I think it was mainly to stop me pestering him all the time... It's a great site and I look forward to learning a lot here. Here's my unknown fly for the day;

i114.photobucket.com/albums/n275/yellowhammer_01/08%20insects/unknownmarshes01.jpg

Found this week in southeast England. About 4mm in length, found on a dead tree trunk in grazing marsh. There were a large number of these together in the sun.

Many thanks for your help Smile

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
