On 14th March 2024 I took pictures of this unknown male chironomidae in Den Helder, Netherlands. It was attracted to light. Can someone please identify it? Thanks a lot.

Are the squares 1 mm? Are there long hairs on the fore tarsus?

Dear John,

The squares are indeed 1 mm. I have added a picture of the fore tarsus. I don't see long hairs on it.

Greetings,

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
