Hello,
I think it's a male N. cibaria, but I've never seen almost completely black legs before.
Location: Nortwestgermany, near an old gravel pit, size about 9 mm, photos taken on 20.05.2023.
Greetings, Konrad

Hi Konrad,
The ovipositor is a little difficult to make out, but as far as I can see this is indeed N. cibaria. And yes sometimes the legs are quite dark.
Greetings,
Ectemnius

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
