Hello,

Here is some diptera I found on 24th June near Dijon (21), France. (Length is approx 12 to 15 mm)
What is not evident on the photo is the yellow and black colors of the abdomen, that give some "hymenoptera-looking" aspect (don't know the english word, sorry ! Wink). First thought about some Asilidae, but once I had the photos, I think more likely it is some Therevidae ?

Can anyone help ?
Thanks !

Thanks for your answer !

As it seems, still lots of things to learn, if I'm not even able to recognize some Syrphidae... Sad

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
