Can anyone confirm this is Prosena siberita? The fly was seen in Tornada, Portugal on the last 8th of August.

Hi Rui,

from what i have readed/learned here.
from specimens i have, i will say it is.

was interesting to see hat when i have meet the species there on two trunks of beech where on/flying around something like more or less 100 specimens. was interesting o see that.

but anyway i think is better to wait a professional opinion.

They seem to like sitting on pale vertical surfaces. While chatting to a friend on a local nature reserve recently I noticed a Prosena on his leg (old, white corduroy trousers) ... I caught it of course Wink Then seconds later he got another ... and another ... got some photos too, though we were both very glad there were no people walking by at the time Grin
