John Carr is our resident chironomidologist. so perhaps he can. Change the title to attract his attention.

I'd suggest Microtendipes

I was also thinking Microtendipes. A closer look at the fore femur might reveal some out of place hairs, diagnostic for males of the genus.

Could be Microtendipes pedellus. There are some species I don't know the color patterns of, and genital features are not visible from this angle.

M. pedellus is exactly this colour, so that would be my guess, but it would be nice to have a colour photographic guide to adult chironomids. Any offers?

Can it be identified as Microtendipes cf. pedellus?
Thanks
