Hello! These 5 mm flies (mostly males) rested in large numbers on a turnpike over a forest path (northwest Germany). I am thinking about Hydrophoria ruralis (abdomen seems yellowish at base) The arista should be relative long haired and scutellum covered with little hairs.......but not visible on this photos. Johanna Edited by javanerkelens on 21-05-2013 22:41 |

One can just see the slightly paler abdominal basal segments, so I agree with Johanna. Tibiae are also slightly yellowish about middle. |
