small fly in garden: (edit) Lauxaniidae?

I was testing a new macro set-up and photographed this small fly in my garden this evening. Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada. Size: 4-5 mm long Is this a type of Drosophila. or something else? Not Drosophila! But I'm afraid they're the only flies I can recognize. From a position of complete ignorance, I might guess Lauxaniidae? |

I looked-up Lauxaniidae and that certainly looks right to me...but I don't even pretend to have any particular expertise with Diptera identification. Can anyone else confirm that this is Lauxaniidae? I looked up Meiosimyza and it certainly looks like the same beast. I didn’t collect it, but it would be easy enough to get a specimen: a number of them seem to settle on one particular fern in my garden each night. I can also provide a higher quality photo.
