Tabanid from N Spain to ID, please

This spectacular creature landed on my colleague's T-shirt in a picnic area close to a mixed forest. I think it's a Tabanid of some kind. Taken near Proaza (N Spain) on September the 9th. Thanks in advance for any hint about its identity!

I have this other view showing a bit more of the face. But it's all I could get, it flew away and we didn't see it again. :-(

Looks weird. The antennae seem totally black but the frons seems narrow, a non-exciting combination of features Theo |
