I cannot tell which species it is with certainty, but I think it is not S. quadripunctata. I see already 3 pairs of black dots, I think. I am inclined to think it is S. opaca, since the dorsum isn't very glossy. But if somebody else has another opinion and think it is S. sexpunctata I am glad to hear it.

To my eyes, The ocellar pair of bristles are wider apart - so s.g. Sapromyzosoma Acrostichals biserial so quadripunctata - in spite of name the number of spots variable either 4 or 6. That is my reasoning. But without a better picture of specimen I an am prepared to be proved wrong ![]() |

I agree with what you say about the ocellar bristles, but I'd like to see it under the microscope. The fact that I have never seen a S. quadripunctata with 6 spots doesn't have a meaning in itself. Yet is seems a bit strange.

Hello Mark and Ruud, I'm afraid I only have this single photo. I will save it as Sapromyza cf. quadripunctata, thanks. Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |
