Thank you very much Tony. Xylocopa spp., known in Turkey, are three species, found also in Europe. They are almost hairless (except legs), brilliant metallic bluish black or brown species, violacea etc. Appearance of this species is somewhat similar to mediterranean species, Xylocopa olivieri. It is known in Spain and Greece but not in Turkey. If this identification is confirmed, then the present species may be new to our fauna. |

Further information: Xylocopa olivieri was described by Lepeletier in 1841 according to a female that collected by Olivier from Bagdad [Iraq] (see: Hist. nat. Insectes, Hymenopteres, Tom 2: 192-193) |

After literary investigations, it became evident that X. olivieri is widely distributed in hot regions of Turkey, also in Middle East to Central Asia. |
