Hello, I think this little fly (approx.8mm) shot in my garden in Normandy (France) is an Anthomyiidae.  Montivilliers 76290, 16/08/2010 Anthomyia procellaris ? Is it right? Thank's for your help. Edited by Lena 76 on 16-08-2010 22:54 |

Five species are recognized in the Anthomyia pluvialis complex from Europe: bazini, imbrida, pluvialis, procellaris and quinquemuculata All species are present in France. The setae on the hindtibia are not good visible, but i don't think it is imbrida (should have a row of ad, 9-15) The lateral postsutural black spot is not separated from the small spot above wing base, so no pluvialis. Then there are left: A.procellaris / quinquemaculat / bazini A.procellaris is the most common one So...only a look at the genitals can give result Joke |

A. inbrida has 9-15 or more ad setea on the hindtibia and A. procellaris / quinquemaculata / bazini have 5-9 ad setae on the hindtibia..... There seems to be more than 5, but that is all i can say.. Joke  |
