I may not understand your question correctly - is it whether it can jump/hop like a grasshopper? In which case the answer is no, the swollen hind femur (I think) is cosidered to be mimicry of bees with pollen loads on their legs, there are examples of this in other species of Syrphidae, indeed in other Diptera families.
