Any clues on what species this larvae might be would be appreciated. From midwest Sweden 2006-07-14. It was rather agile and small, not more than 5 mm I think. It was found on Alnus sp.

I'd say a chrysomelid beetle. With Alnus as host plant I am sure someone will come up with a possible species.

Thank you Paul. It's hard to find images of these larvae. I found one resembling my species, but there might be other similar ones - Agelastica alni - where I guess alni stand for Alnus. I'll check it with my coleoptera connections ...

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
