Hallo, This fly was reared from Deilephila elpenor and emerged recently. There were seven larvae, 6 then succesfully cocooned, and a couple of flies emerged. Location is Karelia, N-W Russia. Looking the keys through I got it ID as Buquetia musca, but I have a lot of doubts nevertheless. I have a fly now, so I can make more photos with some diagnostic features if needed. P.S. Hi Akai You doubts are justified. Buquetia is on Papilio only. This is a Drino. You can nicely see the strong bristle on the base of vein R4+5. So, we need to work on the genus * ocellar bristles are totally lacking, is that correct ? * are there, by any chance, some hairs present on the eye ? I don't see them, but I think they might be present. Check above a white and then a dark sheet of paper as background. Let me know. Theo |

So, if this fits, it is Drino lota, which is the typical Tachinid for this host. So, that makes sense. Theo |
