Certainly looks like a tachinid and with the strong facial ridge bristles & complete marginals on T4 & T5 it should be fairly distinctive but I don't recognise it myself and I would need a clearer photo (or a specimen) to be able to key it out. Smile

Metopia (Miltogramminae), either a female or a male M. campestris/grandii. Somehow, I've got the impression it's a male.
More Liekele's department.

I can not see any ocellar bristles, which should be there in case of Metopia campestris/grandii. But picture is not good enough to conclude that ocellar bristles are absent.

I agree with Theo this seems to be a male.
Furthermore t2 has a median ventral bristle.
In that case it should be a male of Metopia campestris.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
