Saether erected the subgenus Peusomyia in 1970. He felt that the characters shared between pallidus and the Sayomyia species were plesiomorphic. He lists a number of characters which appeared to suggest that Peusomyia was more closely related to Schadanophasma and Chaoborus s.s. Let me know if you would like the ref, or a pdf of the relevant pages.
