Hello everyone! I am in the presence of such Thecophora, one of you can confirm the name of the species? I think T. atra using the key that I have. Thank you, Benoît benoit gilles attached the following image: ![]() [79.79Kb] Edited by benoit gilles on 23-11-2013 19:16 |

Hello Benoit Gilles, For correct identification a dorsal picture of the thorax would be needed as well as two pictures of the theca, on lateral and the other dorsal. Greetings, Ectemnius |

Hello Benoit Gilles, Thanks for the additional images. But its still hard to see. Thecophora is a genus hard to identify! The thorax is entirely dusted. That would place it in the distincta group, not the atra group. However looking at the theca, which is not adpressed to the abdomen it does belong in the atra-group. For a correct identification I would need to see the theca better, and with a photo that will be very hard. You could however try to identify the specimen yourself. You would need the article: Stuke, J.-H. 2006. Thecophora pusilla auct. - ein Artenkomplex (Diptera Conopidae). If you would be interested send me a pm and I will make it available to you. Greetings, Ectemnius |
