I must apologies for the quality of the following pictures; they are the result of heavy cropping - I could not get close enough. In addition, I cannot give a good estimate of their sizeSad, they could be around 4 mm (?). Although they look different, I think they belong to the same sp. In fact, I have no idea where to look for them...

I would appreciate any comment.

Best regards,

Henrik

They seem to be by water and the Greek root for lake is limno- so maybe they are Limnophora. If not, some other Muscoidea. The shape of the head markings and 2+3 dorsocentrals are common in Coenosiinae.

Thank you very much for your reply! Indeed, Limnophora seems similar enough, so I change the title.

Best regards,

Henrik

It is females of L. rufimana or L. pollinifrons. Males should be near on the silt, but males are smaller and more nervous (because females think about feeding, but males think about mating). Give me male and I give you species level.
