Dune one: Ulidiidae: Tetanops cf. flavescens

From dunes, near sea, Tarragona province, Spain.
I first saw this fly near a salticidae spyder, a female, then flied away... but...

Ulidiidae - I'd say Tetanops sp.

Looks more like Otites than Tetanops. I'd better ask Elena, she's revising Otites at the moment. The fly is really strange, anyway.

Jorge was right.

Tetanops cf. flavescens Rond. Certainly NOT T. contarinii, which has frons with median microtrichose vitta. However, the differences between T. flavescens, T. contarinii and T. corsicana seem very dubious. More material from Mediterranean dunes must be accumulated for revision.

3 years later I have photographied I would say the same species at the same small place, a relictus dunes at north Spain... I post it because it is a female this time...
