 Which Palloptera?

Have this very foggy (was discovered in a picture of another subject) picture of a Palloptera from Sjælland, Denmark. In Denmark I think that only umbellatum and ustulata is known. I think this one is closest to be an umbellatum, but the colour of the body confuses me a little.

It is certainly not P. ustulata, because this species has much less markings on the wings. I'd say it is P. umbellatarum

I´ld say it´s Palloptera usta, P. umbellatarum has an extra spot around cross vein R-M. The fact that only two species are known from Denmark, has more to do with the amount of research done there on this family than with it being a poor fauna. John |

A pity, because the flies seem to me also very attractive for amateur dipterists. The family is not too big. As far as I know determination is not too complicated. Problem is that we can't collect the flies we would like to.

There are more Pallopteridae known from Denmark, but only two Palloptera sensu stricto (see Fauna Europaea). I agree with John that this should be Palloptera usta (Toxoneura usta on Fauna Europaea).

Thanks to all of you. My debut om DipteraInfo was successfull. usta it is. Not, if we can trust litterature on the subject, a common species in Denmark.
