Hi,

One pic only of this, taken on 18th June 2009. I'm not sure of the size but it was small, no longer than 5mm probably less.

Near Lincoln UK

At least mesonotum mostly dark. I'd say ornatus

We don't have any pics of this in the Gallery, is it safe to put this one in as Xanthochlorus ornatus or perhpas with a cf.?

There's 3 species in the UK, the other being Xanthochlorus luridus.

Xanthochlorus cf. ornatus

Xanthochlorus luridus is excluded from Britain.
Included:

Xanthochlorus galbanus Chandler et Negrobov, 2008: Dipterists Digest 15: 30 ** HT [National Museums of Scotland] et 43PT [NMS, BMNH, Voronezh Univ., National Museum of Ireland]. Type locality: England: Gloucestershire, Coombe Dingle. Palearctic: Great Britain, Hungary, Italy *

Xanthochlorus silaceus Chandler et Negrobov, 2008: Dipterists Digest 15: 34 ** HT [National Museums of Scotland] et 25PT [NMS, BMNH]. Type locality: England: Kent, Downe, Cuckoo Wood. Palearctic: Great Britain *

I'm glad you have the relevant and up to date names for these Igor, the list I checked is obviously well out of date!

I will add the pic as Xanthochlorus cf. ornatus .
