Katka, which are the main differences between Sapromyza and Sapromyzosoma? For other persons who are reading us :Quadricincta in Latin means four = quadri; cincta is plural of cinctus and means "girdled"  So four spots in abdomen girdled around.

Hi Lars and Jorge, Sapromyza has occipital seta inside the triangel, Sapromyzosoma outside. All species of european Sapromyzosoma have spots on abdomen (but some Sapromyza too). Sapromyzosoma quadricincta (=bipunctata) have only two spots on abdomen  , S. quadripunctata have two.Katka |

It was perfectly clear. I'm glad I was almost right about the meaning of cincta punctata means dotted / with spots.. ok.. |
