I found this sarcophagid in Apúlia, Portugal. Is it possible to say anything about it?

I think this could be female of Mesomelena mesomelaena (Sarcophagidae, Miltogramminae).

I have never seen female of this species before and it does not fit the description exactly, but it is the only palaearctic genus / species that fits at all.

If you have collected it, I would like to have a closer look at it.

Thank you again Liekele. Yes, I collected the fly and I will keep it for you. I will try to catch more because this species appears to be common.

Rui,

Meanwhile I have studied your specimens, a male and a female. On the picture is a female.

It is definitedly not Mesomelena and not Miltogramminae at al.

This is Sarcotachina umbrinervis Villeneuve 1910 (Sarcophagidae, Paramacronychiinae).
Known from Tunesia. Also found in Magazon (Spain, Huelva). Biology yet unknown.
