Not sure but it looks interesting - projecting mouth but bare eyes (so not Linnaemyia) ... Theo should know I think Smile

Thank you Chris and StephaneSmile. I saw photos of Actia and I also thought that it resembles the fly from my pictures.

Unfortunately I don't have the pictures of this fly with me right now. By Friday I'll have them already.

Siphonini is right.
It looks like Peribaea, but I can't rule out some Actia at this moment

Theo, do you want a detailed view of the wing like Stephane? Or is that character irrelevant to distinguish these two genera?

Sorry, I had a better look at all pictures, and in the first, you can clearly see it is Peribaea, the downward curved bristle at the front of the thorax is characteristic.
So no doubts any more, Peribaea it is.

Difficult genus, I'm not gonna guess a species

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
