Hi, i was doubting about this one as a strange Limnohora (?) but now I´ve seen an "Anthomyia cf. bisetosa" in the gallery, but from Australia, so now I have no idea at all

The pic was taken by Josep Mª Solé http://www.biodiv...64431.html

- In Tarragona (NE Spain)
- In the city!
- 115m
- 7-oct-10

Thanks for any help :)

It does look similar to the image you mention, or to A. illocata, but neither is listed in Fauna Eur. Is there an airport nearby??

I think it is a muscid, maybe Limnophora as you thought. Although it does look as if the anal vein could reach the wing margin, it also looks as if there could be 4 pdcs. Neither is very clear. Can you see better in the big picture? Soon the experts will arrive Grin

This is not a Limnophora as it has a pair of crossed interfrontals and a prealar seta (that Coenosinae never have), nor a Brontaea (Gymnodia). Both also have 2 broad dark spots in front of suture.
This must be an Anthomyia sp.
Stephane.

Which is the prealar? Is it the hair literally in front of the wing base, the hair along the front of the dark band above the wing base, or a different one?
