Photograph taken on September, 01, 2011, in terrace housing in urban areas in Motril, Granada, Spain. Immediate area of the Mediterranean coast. He walked and appeared to suck in the empty glass of a jasmine flower. Approximate size, no antennae 3,5 - 4 mm Click over the image increases in size    Appreciate your cooperation for identification. Perhaps this one id identifiable with the images given, but I do not have my key here to check.  Colour of various body parts (legs, palpi) and dust patterns (head, side of thorax) are among the relevant characters.

Yes, beautiful photos of a female Desmometopa varipalpis, see http://milichiidae.info/category/classification/desmometopa-varipalpis. I would love to add these photos to milichiidae.info if I may. There are only three Desmometopa species in Spain and D. varipalpis differs from the other two in the grey colour (microtomentum). The males have enlarged palpi that are easy to recognize. The species is getting more and more common. Irina |
